Allison Whitehead QC

Al graduated from St. Thomas University in 1973 with his Bachelor of Arts and from the University of New Brunswick with his Bachelor of Law in 1976. He practiced with Kenny, Jackson & McKee from 1976 until 1978 when he co-founded Calabrese Whitehead, now Whitehead, Miles & Allen. Al initially focused his practice on criminal and family law, but stopped practicing criminal law approximately 15 years ago to focus more on civil litigation, particularly personal injury claims. Al currently practices in the areas of family, civil, and probate law. He has appeared in the Provincial Court of New Brunswick, the Court of Queen’s Bench, the Court of Appeal and the Federal Court. He has also chaired the Employment Standards Tribunal for New Brunswick, the Mental Health Tribunal for Region III Hospital Corporation, the Canadian Pension Review Tribunal and the New Brunswick Liquor Corporation. He has taught at the bar admission course a number of times. Al was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2006.


Al sits on the Board of Directors for Fredericton Sports Investment. 

 It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of our partner and friend, Allison Whitehead, who passed on March 24, 2023.

Allen graduated from the University of New Brunswick in 1978 with his Bachelor of Business Administration and from the University of New Brunswick with his Bachelor of Law in 1985. He joined Whitehead, Miles & Allen in 1984. Allen practices in all areas of law particularly family, corporate, litigation, commercial and real estate and has acted as a Federal and Provincial Prosecutor and has appeared in the Federal Court. He has been involved in a number of 3P Projects representing the Province of New Brunswick. He has appeared in the Provincial Court of New Brunswick, the Court of Queen’s Bench, the Appeal Court of New Brunswick and the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia.


Allen is a member of the Main Street Business Development Corporation and was a founding director of the Lions Huggy Youth Treatment Centre Inc.

Kenneth Allen

Ken graduated from the University of New Brunswick with a B.A. in 2007 and an L.L.B. in 2011. Ken joined Whitehead, Miles & Allen in 2011 as an articling student and was called to the bar in 2012. Ken practices in all areas of law including, litigation, property, corporate and commercial, criminal, wills and estates, employment, and bankruptcy and insolvency. He has appeared in the Provincial Court, the Court of Queen’s Bench and Court of Appeal.


Ken was involved with Big Brothers and Big Sisters for a number of years and is a member of the Capital Y’s Men’s Club.

Cassey LaBelle

Originally from the Niagara Region of Ontario, Cassey obtained a Bachelor's degree in Modern Languages from Brock University in 2017. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of New Brunswick in 2020. 


Cassey joined Whitehead, Miles and Allen in 2019 and completed her articles. She was called to the New Brunswick bar in 2021. Currently, she is building and maintaining a general practice with a primary focus on litigation, corporate, wills and estates and property. 


Outside the office, Cassey participates in charitable activities such as the Run for the Cure and spends time with her family, two dogs and a cat.

Emily Spillett

Emily graduated from Acadia University in 2017 with her Bachelor of Science and from the University of New Brunswick with her Juris Doctor in 2020. 


Emily joined Whitehead, Miles & Allen in 2020 as an articling student and was called to the New Brunswick Bar in 2021.


Emily currently practices in all areas of law, particularly corporate, litigation, commercial, real estate, wills and estates, and family. 


Outside of the office, Emily enjoys spending time with family and friends and is an avid fan of board games.

Ian Donihee

Ian graduated from Saint Mary’s University with a B.A. in 2008 and later received a J.D. from the University of New Brunswick in 2021.

 

In the years between Ian’s B.A. and J.D., he served in the Canadian Armed Forces for 11 years and was awarded the Special Service Medal- Expedition Bar.

 

Ian joined Whitehead, Miles & Allen in 2021 as an articling student and was called to the bar in 2022. Ian currently practices in all areas of law, particularly in real estate, wills and estates, corporate, litigation, commercial and family law.

 

Outside of the office, Ian enjoys spending time with his wife and three boys.
